Sumit Bhatia is the Chief Business Officer at TBDC, one of Toronto’s oldest business incubators that serves as a bridge between entrepreneurs worldwide and Ontario’s investors, industry associations, and government. Sumit brings over 20 years of multidisciplinary experience as an entrepreneur, academic and executive in emerging tech, where he built products, led startups, facilitated research, designed knowledge mobilization frameworks and helped drive enterprise-wide change management initiatives. Sumit's passion and experience lies in designing holistic innovation ecosystems that harness the collective power of people, processes and technology, and build thoughtful bridges across diverse sectors and stakeholders.This has allowed him to work with cutting edge technologies while driving positive social impact. Until the end of 2023, Sumit was the Director of Innovation and Policy at the Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, where he led the Catalyst Cyber Accelerator, Canada's first National Cybersecurity Accelerator, the CyberSecure Policy Exchange, a think tank that provided thought leadership at the intersection of Privacy and security, and the Catalysts SMB initiatives. Sumit continues to serve as an Advisor and Executive in Residence with the Catalyst. He also serves on multiple advisory boards including for Tampa Bay's Cyber Wave Accelerator,  Toronto Metropolitan University's Research Ethics Board and on the Board of Advisors for Westcliff University. He holds a Bachelor of Honors in Economics and Finance from the University of Toronto and a Masters in Digital Media from Toronto Metropolitan University.
